Naming and Updating Beneficiaries

Make sure your hard-earned benefits go to the people you want! Like other retirement plans, FPPA Members select beneficiaries to receive their benefits under certain circumstances. Then, when life changes happen—marriage, divorce, children, etc.—it is crucial to keep your beneficiaries updated so your benefits are passed on according to your wishes.

Important: Beneficiary designations do not apply across FPPA plans. If you are enrolled in multiple plans, you must name beneficiaries for each plan, even if they are the same person. This includes accounts held at Fidelity.

Fortunately, regardless of your FPPA plan, it takes just a few steps to name or update your beneficiaries. To get started, follow the steps below.

For These Components of the Statewide Retirement Plan Only

  • Defined Benefit Component
  • Hybrid Defined Benefit Component
  • Social Security Component

To select or update your beneficiary designations, log into MAP (Member Account Portal) to enter updated information directly.
